This was the last conference I covered in 2020 before bans on large gatherings were put into place by the BC Government due to the pandemic. Looking forward to the day we can gather again.
Barack Obama in Vancouver
Barack Obama's motorcade arriving at the Vancouver Convention Centre for his talk on March 5th, 2019. I couldn't get a ticket or pass for the event so I waited a couple of hours for this photo instead. I waved at the motorcade hoping he'd roll down the window and wave back and I would have this epic photojournalistic photo, but no luck. That's ok. I'm pretty sure I'm the only photographer who got this photo. There were no other photographers around at this point - the rest of the media took crowd photos and left. The 30 or so bystanders didn't know who it was so no one had their cell phones out.
