Corporate headshots - 3 tips for getting good ones.
I often look at the websites of companies who are looking to hire me and have a look at their board members or executive staff page. Many times the corporate headshots are an inconsistent collection of snapshots that the board members or executives have submitted themselves. It reflects poorly on the company. The good news is it's not hard to get a decent group of headshots even if you're not a professional photographer. Some tips to DIY
:1. Choose the right background. The most noticeable thing I see is inconsistency in backgrounds. Some are done on clean white background, some are done outdoors. Even if your team cannot be together, everyone should get a photo done with a similar background. Choose a white wall, choose a building foyer, choose a setting with some greenery - whatever it is make is similar for everyone.
2. Good grooming.Hair done, make up done, clean nails, ironed clothing, properly fitted clothing, teeth brushed. These details make a difference in the final photo and it's the one we are often trying to correct right before the photo is taken.
3. Use a longer lens.If you are using zoom lens, use the longest focal length and move away from the person.Hopefully that will help you, but call us if you want a professional to get it done quickly.
