Clean Economy Event in Coal Harbour

A plasma injector by General Fusion that I saw at an Clean Economy event in Coal Harbour in Vancouver that covered a couple years ago. They are trying to replicate how the sun creates energy for mass commercial use for a cleaner alternative energy source.

Corporate headshots - 3 tips for getting good ones.

I often look at the websites of companies who are looking to hire me and have a look at their board members or executive staff page. Many times the corporate headshots are an inconsistent collection of snapshots that the board members or executives have submitted themselves. It reflects poorly on the company. The good news is it's not hard to get a decent group of headshots even if you're not a professional photographer. Some tips to DIY

:1. Choose the right background.The most noticeable thing I see is inconsistency in backgrounds. Some are done on clean white background, some are done outdoors. Even if your team cannot be together, everyone should get a photo done with a similar background. Choose a white wall, choose a building foyer, choose a setting with some greenery - whatever it is make is similar for everyone.

2. Good grooming.Hair done, make up done, clean nails, ironed clothing, properly fitted clothing, teeth brushed. These details make a difference in the final photo and it's the one we are often trying to correct right before the photo is taken.

3. Use a longer lens.If you are using zoom lens, use the longest focal length and move away from the person.Hopefully that will help you, but call us if you want a professional to get it done quickly.

A record-breaking 6500+ swimmers participated in the 100th anniversary Polar Bear Swim on Wednesday January 1, 2020 at English Bay in the Westend in Vancouver, BC Canada. Air temperature was 10 degrees Celsius and the water temperature was 7 degrees Celsius. Happy New year everyone!

Google Street Trekker in Vancouver, Canada

Spotted a Google Maps Street Trekker in Vancouver on Thursday December 5, 2019. They are used to record street views for Google Maps in places where their cars can't go. They've used it to document places such as Angkor Wat and the Grand Canyon. They also have a Streetview snowmobile which has documented Whistler Blackcomb Mountain and a Streetview Trolley for museums and similar spaces. And the best thing is they loan the Street Trekker out to organizations (government agencies, tourism boards, non-profits) for places they'd like to document. #googletrekker #streetview #vancouver #canada #googlestreettrekker #googlemaps
