Truth and Reconciliation Day Drum Ceremony
National Day of Truth and Reconciliation Drum Ceremony in Vancouver, BC.
The Nisga’a Ts’amiks Vancouver Society hosted a drum ceremony for Canada’s first National Day of Truth and Reconciliation on Thursday September 30, 2021 at Trout Lake in Vancouver, BC. The public ceremony was to honour the children who have died because of residential schools including the Kamloops Residential School. It was supposed to pour rain all day, but during the ceremony it did not rain and the sun even shone. Only a few minutes after the main event was finished did it start to rain.

Canadian Olympic rowing, climbing, para-cycling and racewalking athletes were at the re-lighting of the Olympic Cauldron on Tuesday August 24th, 2021 to celebrate the start of the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games.

A ceremony was held at the Vancouver Art Gallery on June 21, 2021 in honor of National Indigenous Peoples Day and also as a tribute the the 215 children whose graves were discovered recently at the Kamloops Residential School.
Memorial for Residential School Children
A memorial was set up at the Vancouver Art Gallery in honour of the 215 children found at the Kamploops Residential School in May 2021. Co-organizer and residential school survivor Cheryl is pictured below along with members of the public who came to pay their respects.

Vancouver Mural Festival hosted a Winter Arts Festival at Jim Deva Plaza, Lot 19, Vancouver Art Gallery North Plaza and several other locations around Vancouver. It showcased outdoor art installations with AR features. The festival ran from February 12-28, 2021.
